Fritillaria, Checkered lilly

Also called Gunea Hen Flowers, Snake's Head Fritillary, the Checkered Lily; Fritillaria meleagris was first cultured in 1575 for it's prized naturalizer with small bell-shaped , checkered flowers in maroon-purple and white. It prefers a sheltered spot in the garden with light shade and somewhat cool, moist soil.
