The ruby red spring emergence along with the stocky, angular structure of this tree immediately caught my interest. The rugose leaves change to deep red in the summer and orange red in the fall. Green bark provides a striking contrast for the red leaves and a handsome structural interest in the winter. Not at all difficult to grow with a slow to medium growth rate. Great detail interest for close viewing or containers.
