Known as the coral bark maple, the red bark is a wonderful silhouette against the snow or a grey winter landscape. Spring leaves emerge pale green, a great contrast to the bark. Fall is a clear yellow. Very fast growing and upright, this tree is disposed to disease from spring frost damage and is best grown in warmer climates. For bight red bark and green leaves in colder climates consider Acer circinatum 'Pacific Fire'.
