Acer palmatum 'Catalina Mendoza' Japanese Maple

About Our Sizes
Size 3

Acer palmatum 'Catalina Mendoza' is a newer dwarf Japanese maple from the Mikawa yatsubusa line, with abundant internodes stacked closely on top of one another. That dense yatsubusa structure gives the tree a layered, sculptural presence while it is still small, and the naturally curving framework makes it especially interesting for bonsai work, container culture, and close-view garden placement.

The leaves are narrow and pointed with irregular edges that create a soft ruffled effect.  The plant shows bright green to lime-green spring foliage, dense clusters of leaves, and an upright dwarf structure in a nursery container.

'Catalina Mendoza' was discovered by Angel Mendoza and named for his wife, Catalina. It is a wonderful new addition for collectors. Give morning sun or filtered light, with protection from harsh afternoon sun in hotter gardens, and grow in well-drained, evenly moist soil.
