Spring emerges a pale green with a brick red edge.The classic yatsubusa type so frequently used in bonsai, very low and wide with no weeping, the branches grow horizontal to the ground. I've seen this tree, at 50+ years old, over 10' wide and no more than 4' tall! With a profusion of branches, this tree provides many opportunities for creating a beautiful bonsai or container tree.
